Answer from 2024 FDD Document

The FRANCHISEE will not lease, purchase or otherwise acquire a site for the Franchised Location until: (1) the proposed site has been reviewed and approved in writing by COST CUTTERS for FRANCHISEE'S Franchised Location, considering all factors COST CUTTERS deems material in considering whether to approve such site for FRANCHISEE'S Franchised Location including accessibility, visibility, potential traffic flows, competition, other commercial, market, and demographic information and other factors COST CUTTERS deems relevant; and (2) COST CUTTERS has reviewed the Lease and determined whether FRANCHISEE will be required to sublease from COST CUTTERS or an affiliate.

The review of the site conducted by COST CUTTERS will not be deemed to be a warranty, representation or guaranty by COST CUTTERS that the site will be approved for FRANCHISEE'S Franchised Location or if the FRANCHISEE'S Cost Cutters Business is approved by COST CUTTERS and is opened and operated at that site, that it will be a financial success.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in this Agreement, the site for the Franchised Location may not be located within any location or premises owned or controlled by a national or regional mass merchandiser such as but not limited to Wal-Mart, Target, Venture or Costco.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the company considers several factors when reviewing and approving a site for a new franchise location. These factors include accessibility, visibility, potential traffic flows, competition, and other commercial, market, and demographic information. Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon deems all of these factors as material when deciding whether to approve a site.

It is important to note that Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon's review of a potential site does not constitute a warranty, representation, or guarantee that the site will be approved. Furthermore, even if the site is approved and a Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon business is opened and operated there, the review does not guarantee financial success. This means that while Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon provides guidance and approval, the ultimate responsibility for the success of the location rests with the franchisee.

The FDD also specifies that a Franchised Location cannot be located within any location or premises owned or controlled by a national or regional mass merchandiser such as Wal-Mart, Target, Venture or Costco. This restriction limits the areas where a franchisee can establish a Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon. Before leasing or purchasing a site, a franchisee must receive written approval from Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon, ensuring that the location meets the company's standards and is not in violation of any restrictions.

After a location is acquired, the franchisee must provide Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon with detailed information about the site, including a copy of the executed lease, store front elevation, space documentation, location of plumbing and electrical sources, and local signage requirements. Based on this information, Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon will provide approved store layouts and plans, which the franchisee must follow during construction or remodeling. This process ensures that all Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon locations maintain a consistent brand image and meet the company's standards.
