What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Coffee News Franchise Disclosure Document, the training program is available in person and is required for all signatories to the agreement, typically the business owners and principal officers. However, upon signing the agreement and paying the initial franchise fee, new publishers gain access to pre-opening training materials and a mentor training program.

The in-person training, called Coffee News College, is offered every 8 to 13 weeks and lasts two to three days. This program includes lectures and hands-on involvement from veteran franchisees and corporate staff. Topics covered include sales, advertisement design, billing, collections, distribution, marketing, and startup procedures. There is also time for networking with veteran franchisees.

The initial training program is included in the $9,900 initial franchise fee, with a one-time training fee valued at $2,900. Franchisees are responsible for their own travel and hotel expenses for the in-person training. While the document specifies access to pre-opening training materials and a mentor program upon signing the agreement, it does not explicitly state whether the entire training program is available online. A prospective franchisee should confirm with Coffee News whether any components of the training program, beyond the initial pre-opening materials, can be completed online.
