Is there any agreement limiting the use of Coffee News copyrights?

According to the 2025 Coffee News Franchise Disclosure Document, there is no agreement limiting the use of the copyrights. However, Coffee News and its affiliate, 2703203 Manitoba Inc., claim copyright to the Coffee News format design and the content of the Periodicals, training programs, operations manual, marketing promotion materials, and license agreements.

As a Coffee News franchisee, you must promptly inform Coffee News of any unauthorized use of their proprietary information. While Coffee News is not obligated to take action, they will respond as they deem appropriate. The FDD states that there are no current material determinations by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States Copyright Office, or a court that affects the Coffee News franchise business.

The franchisee recognizes the value of the goodwill associated with the Coffee News name and format, acknowledging that the name and rights belong to Coffee News and 2703203 Manitoba Inc. The franchisee agrees that every use of the Coffee News name and format will benefit Coffee News and 2703203 Manitoba Inc., and the franchisee will not acquire any rights in the name. The franchisee also agrees not to attack the title or rights of Coffee News or 2703203 Manitoba Inc. to the Coffee News name or format.
