What This Means (2025 FDD)

Based on the 2025 Coffee News Franchise Disclosure Document, upon termination of the Franchise Agreement for any reason, the franchisee is required to return specific materials to Coffee News. These include the Operations Manual, all printed and working copies of the Coffee News periodical then in existence, advertiser lists (including present advertiser identities, telephone numbers, and addresses), and all files and records pertinent to such customers in the licensed area.

Additionally, the franchisee must provide monthly sales records up to the date of termination, all camera-ready artwork in connection with the periodical, holders, and all printed back issues. This comprehensive return of materials ensures that Coffee News retains control over its proprietary information and can seamlessly continue operations in the territory, if desired.

This requirement is fairly standard in franchising, as franchisors need to protect their brand and operational methods. The detailed list of items to be returned highlights the importance Coffee News places on maintaining its business model and customer relationships, even after a franchise agreement ends. A prospective franchisee should carefully consider the implications of this clause, particularly regarding the effort required to maintain and organize these records throughout the term of the agreement.
