What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Coffee News' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the company generates revenue from several sources. These include the sale of franchises, which is recognized over the term of the initial franchise agreement, generally four years. Coffee News also earns revenue from royalty payments collected from franchisees, training fees charged to new franchisees, and sales of product promotional materials. These revenues are recognized monthly as they are earned.
In addition to these traditional revenue streams, Coffee News generates revenue through Coffee News Online, a digital companion to the print publication. This online platform offers enhanced marketing opportunities and generates additional advertising revenue from existing advertisers as well as restaurants. Franchisees can enroll in Coffee News Online, with options for basic and premium services. The basic service provides ad spaces for sale, while the premium service includes email marketing services.
Furthermore, Coffee News Printing, LLC, an affiliate, provides printing services to franchisees, representing another revenue source. Franchisees are obligated to purchase printing services from Coffee News Printing, LLC for a minimum of one year from the date of the franchise agreement. After this initial period, franchisees have the option to use another print shop, but if Coffee News provides financing for multiple franchised units, the franchisee must continue using Coffee News Printing, LLC during the term of the loan. These diverse revenue streams reflect Coffee News' multifaceted approach to generating income both from its franchisees and through related services and products.
