- 6.3. Copyrights. All title, including without limitation copyrights, in and to the Periodical, Operations Manual, Coffee News College training materials, marketing promotion materials, our license agreements, and all content that Licensor and/or its affiliate develop, either in hardcopy or digital format, and any copies thereof are owned by Franchisor and/or its affiliate. All title and intellectual property rights in and to the Periodical content which may be accessed through use of the Periodical and related services is the property of Franchisor and shall be protected by applicable copyright and other intellectual property laws. This Agreement grants no rights to Franchisee's customer to use the content without Franchisor's written consent.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Coffee News Franchise Disclosure Document, the intellectual property rights to the Coffee News periodical content are protected by applicable copyright laws. The FDD specifies that all title and intellectual property rights in the periodical content, accessible through the periodical and related services, are the property of Coffee News and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
This means that Coffee News retains ownership of all content within the periodical, including copyrights. As a franchisee, you are granted no rights to allow your customers to use the content without Coffee News's explicit written consent. This protection extends to the Periodical itself, the Operations Manual, training materials from Coffee News College, marketing and promotion materials, and license agreements, whether in hard copy or digital format.
As a Coffee News franchisee, it is important to understand that you are licensing the right to distribute and sell advertising in the Coffee News publication, but you do not own the rights to the content itself. Any unauthorized use or reproduction of the content could result in legal action against you. Franchisees are also obligated to notify Coffee News of any apparent infringements or challenges to the use of the Coffee News name or format within their region.
