What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Coffee News Franchise Disclosure Document, exclusive rights to distribute the Coffee News publication within agreed boundaries are granted at the signing of the franchise agreement. The franchisee's exclusive territory is defined as a specific geographic area where they are authorized to distribute the periodical.

While Coffee News franchisees are restricted to distributing the publication within their assigned territory, they are permitted to solicit and accept advertisements from sources both inside and outside of their territory. Coffee News USA, Inc. does not place restrictions on advertising solicitation outside the territory. However, the FDD suggests that franchisees communicate with neighboring publishers as a courtesy before soliciting or selling advertising in their territories to maintain positive relationships.

Prospective Coffee News franchisees should note that the exclusive territory is typically based on 2010 census data, targeting a resident population of 25,000 to 50,000 within the selected area. The franchisor retains the right to review and approve the proposed territory. Franchisees may also propose and acquire additional territories, subject to the franchisor's research and tailoring of the boundaries. The franchisee's online version of Coffee News is restricted to their licensed territory, with the franchisor providing a dropdown menu on their website to indicate the area served by each online publication.
