What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Coffee News's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee who wishes to postpone their business start date by one month or more must pay a fee of $1,000. This fee is required to obtain the extension and to hold the franchisee's licensed area during the postponement period, before the full amount due under the agreement is paid. This fee is paid to Coffee News.

This postponement fee is in addition to the initial franchise fee of $9,900 for the first franchise. The initial franchise fee is due upon signing the franchise agreement, with $500 earmarked for document preparation. If a franchisee chooses to add the Coffee News Online feature, there is also a one-time enrollment fee of $100.00.

The FDD also includes a table in Item 7 that summarizes the estimated initial investment, including a line item for "POSTPONEMENT OF OPENING DATE" with a range of $0.00 - $1,000.00, payable as a lump sum upon request to postpone the start date for one month or more. All fees mentioned are non-refundable.
