What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Closet Storage Concepts's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Closet Storage Concepts retains significant control over franchisees' websites. Closet Storage Concepts explicitly states that it may refuse to permit a franchisee to operate or establish any website. This means that as a franchisee, you might not be allowed to create your own online presence to promote your specific franchise location.
Closet Storage Concepts defines a "Website" broadly, including interactive electronic documents, home pages, social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Twitter, and any presence in virtual worlds. Any website you might want to develop or use is considered advertising and must adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in the Franchise Agreement.
Furthermore, if Closet Storage Concepts does allow you to have a website, it requires prior written approval of the website's form, content, and information. This is because Closet Storage Concepts has a substantial interest in protecting its Proprietary Marks, the System, and Confidential Information. Closet Storage Concepts also reserves the right to operate a centralized website, potentially requiring your participation without compensating you. This level of control is common in franchising, as franchisors aim to maintain brand consistency and manage online representation effectively.
