Must Closet Storage Concepts always agree to a franchisee's relocation request?

The Franchise Agreement grants you the right to operate one Closet & Storage Concepts business at the specific location identified in the Franchise Agreement or subsequently identified and mutually acceptable to both you and us. If the lease term is shorter than the term of the Franchise Agreement and the lease cannot be renewed or extended, or you cannot continue for any other reason to occupy the premises of the Franchised Business, you must relocate your Franchised Business to a site mutually acceptable to you and us in order to complete the balance of the term of the Franchise Agreement. You must give us notice of your intent to relocate, must procure a site acceptable to us within 60 days after closing the prior location, and must open the new location for business within 180 days of closing the previous one. We may or may not agree to such relocation based upon various criteria including but not limited to: area demographics, and estimated market demand and proximity to other Closet & Storage Concepts or More Space Place businesses. If you fail to comply with the relocation requirements, we may terminate the Franchise Agreement.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Closet Storage Concepts's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees have the right to relocate their business if they cannot continue occupying their current premises due to lease issues or other reasons. However, Closet Storage Concepts does not automatically approve every relocation request.
The relocation site must be mutually acceptable to both the franchisee and Closet Storage Concepts. The franchisee must notify Closet Storage Concepts of their intent to relocate, secure a site that meets Closet Storage Concepts's approval within 60 days of closing the previous location, and open the new location within 180 days of closing the old one.
Closet Storage Concepts retains the right to deny a relocation request based on criteria such as area demographics, estimated market demand, and proximity to other Closet & Storage Concepts or More Space Place businesses. Failure to comply with these relocation requirements may result in the termination of the Franchise Agreement. This means a franchisee could lose their franchise if they cannot find a suitable relocation site that Closet Storage Concepts approves or if they fail to meet the specified timelines.
