What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cinnaholic's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, any modifications or improvements a franchisee makes to the Cinnaholic franchise system are considered works made for hire and are owned exclusively by Cinnaholic. This means that if a franchisee develops a new recipe, process, or any other improvement related to the Cinnaholic business, Cinnaholic will own it.
Specifically, Cinnaholic is not obligated to compensate the franchisee for any such modification or improvement. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as franchisors typically want to maintain tight control over their brand standards and intellectual property.
For a prospective Cinnaholic franchisee, this means that while you are encouraged to contribute to the system, you should not expect any direct financial compensation for your ideas or innovations. The benefit to the franchisee would be indirect, as improvements could lead to a stronger brand and increased profitability for all franchisees. However, Cinnaholic retains full ownership and control over implementing any changes.
