What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Churchs Chicken's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee acknowledges that the contents of the manual are confidential and contain trade secrets and copyrighted material. The franchisee is prohibited from disclosing the contents, passwords, or digital identifications needed to access the manual to anyone other than employees who need to know the contents.
Specifically, Churchs Chicken franchisees are not allowed to copy, duplicate, record, or reproduce any part of the manual. The franchisee must operate the franchised restaurant in strict compliance with the manual and maintain the manual at the restaurant.
These restrictions are typical in franchising, as the operations manual contains the franchisor's proprietary methods and systems. Protecting this information is crucial for maintaining brand consistency and competitive advantage. Franchisees should ensure their employees understand the confidential nature of the manual and their obligations to protect it.
