We will provide you with our suggested staffing levels (Section 5.2), suggested guidelines for hiring employees (Section 5.2), operational instructions in the Manual which you can use as part of training new employees (Section 5.3), and our initial training program described below.
Our opening support (as described below) includes assisting you in training employees.
All hiring decisions and conditions of employment are your sole responsibility.

What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Chocolate Fish Coffee FDD, Chocolate Fish Coffee will provide franchisees with operational instructions for training new employees. Specifically, Chocolate Fish Coffee will provide suggested staffing levels, suggested guidelines for hiring employees, and operational instructions in the Brand Standards Manual that franchisees can use as part of training new employees.
In addition to the operational instructions, Chocolate Fish Coffee also provides an initial training program. The training program includes both classroom and on-the-job training. The classroom training totals 9.5 hours, while the on-the-job training totals 29.5 hours. The training covers topics such as Chocolate Fish Coffee culture, history, basic setup, operations, pricing, customer satisfaction, and barista training.
Chocolate Fish Coffee also provides on-site support for one week in connection with the business opening, which includes assisting in training employees. The FDD states that franchisees must attend training and may send additional people to training. To successfully complete the training, franchisees must pass a test that evaluates their understanding of the content and franchise operating content covered in the training program. The FDD specifies that if a franchisee needs to send a new general manager to the training program, there is a fee of $350 per day.
