What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Chocolate Fish Coffee's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Chocolate Fish Coffee will conduct an initial training program. The FDD specifies that the franchisor will conduct an initial training program, and the current program is described in detail within Item 11.
The initial training program includes both classroom and on-the-job training. The total training consists of 9.5 hours of classroom training and 29.5 hours of on-the-job training. The training covers topics such as Chocolate Fish Coffee culture, operations basics, pricing, front and back of house operations, customer satisfaction, and barista training. Training classes will be scheduled based on the needs of new franchisees and may be held remotely, at a corporate location, or at the franchisee's location.
Prospective franchisees must attend the training program, and up to two people can attend without incurring a training fee. However, the franchisee is responsible for covering the travel and living expenses for their employees or managers who attend the training. Franchisees must complete the training to Chocolate Fish Coffee's satisfaction at least four weeks before opening their business and pass a test evaluating their understanding of the training content. If a new general manager needs to attend the training program, Chocolate Fish Coffee will charge a fee of $350 per day. While additional training programs or refresher courses are not currently required, Chocolate Fish Coffee retains the right to implement them in the future.
