Before you open your Restaurant, we (and/or one of our Area Developers) will:

  • Give you information about the Restaurant's layout requirements and signs. [Agreement — Section 6]
  • Review and approve your plans and specifications for the Restaurant and conduct a restaurant-readiness review assessment. [Agreement — Section 6]
  • Provide an initial brand standard training program (described below) to instruct you and your employees about required procedures and techniques to operate the Restaurant. [Agreement — Sections 4 and 7]
  • Give you access to one copy of our confidential manuals (the "Manuals"). [Agreement — Section 13] The Manuals for a CHESTER'S Restaurant have 140 pages. The table of contents is in Exhibit C.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Chesters's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Item 11 outlines the franchisor's assistance regarding restaurant layout requirements, while Item 8 details the franchisee's obligation to develop the restaurant in compliance with Chesters's System. Specifically, before a Chesters restaurant opens, the franchisor will provide information about the restaurant's layout requirements and signs, as well as review and approve the franchisee's plans and specifications.

Item 8 reinforces this by stating that the franchisee must develop the restaurant in compliance with Chesters's System, ensuring that all plans and specifications meet the franchisor's requirements, applicable laws, and lease requirements. Chesters will provide required and recommended specifications and layouts. The franchisee must submit all plans and specifications to Chesters for review and approval before construction begins.

In essence, Chesters provides the franchisee with layout requirements and reviews the franchisee's plans to ensure compliance with the Chesters system. The franchisee is ultimately responsible for developing the restaurant according to these guidelines and obtaining the franchisor's approval on all plans before proceeding with construction. This collaborative process ensures that each Chesters restaurant maintains brand consistency and meets operational standards.
