What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Chesters Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisor, Chester's International, LLC, was originally formed in October 2002 as Chester's Supply Company, LLC. The company subsequently changed its name to National Flour Mills and Supply Company, LLC in April 2004 before adopting its current name in November 2009. This history of name changes is important for prospective franchisees to note as it provides insight into the evolution of the Chesters brand and its business focus.
Understanding the franchisor's history, including its previous names and business activities, can help a potential franchisee assess the stability and experience of the Chesters organization. The fact that Chesters has undergone multiple name changes might prompt a franchisee to inquire about the reasons behind these changes and whether they reflect any significant shifts in the company's strategy or ownership. This information can be valuable in evaluating the long-term prospects of the franchise.
It's also worth noting that Chesters began offering restaurant franchises in January 2008, while a former affiliate, also named Chester's International, LLC (the "First Chester's"), offered franchises from approximately March 1, 2004, through December 2007. This detail highlights that the current Chesters franchisor has a distinct history from its affiliate, which is crucial for franchisees to understand when reviewing the franchise's track record and performance data.
