What is the name of the agreement that Chester Fried Licensed Restaurants sign when converting to a Chesters franchise?

Chesters Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Operators of Chester Fried Licensed Restaurants generally did not receive all the benefits of a CHESTER'S Restaurant franchise and also were not subject to all the same restrictions and obligations. For example, Chester Fried Licensed Restaurants did not pay a franchise or any other initial fee. Also, most Chester Fried Licensed Restaurants continue to operate under the "CHESTER FRIED®" name. We are now the licensor of those Chester Fried Licensed Restaurants. Operators of Chester Fried Licensed Restaurants have the right to convert their units to franchised Restaurants if they satisfy our standards for a CHESTER'S Restaurant franchisee. If they want to convert, they will sign our Agreement. There is no conversion agreement or similar document they must sign.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Chesters FDD, Chester Fried Licensed Restaurants do not sign a conversion agreement or similar document when converting to a Chesters franchise. Instead, if Chester Fried Licensed Restaurant operators wish to convert their units to a franchised Chesters Restaurant, they must meet Chesters' standards for franchisees and will then sign Chesters' standard franchise agreement.

This means that existing Chester Fried Licensed Restaurant operators looking to upgrade to a full Chesters franchise will be subject to the same agreement as any new franchisee. They will need to satisfy all requirements and obligations outlined in the standard franchise agreement. This ensures consistency across all Chesters franchise locations and adherence to the brand's standards.

It is important for prospective franchisees to carefully review the standard franchise agreement to understand the full scope of their rights and obligations. This includes fees, operational requirements, marketing obligations, and other key aspects of the franchise relationship. Understanding the agreement is crucial for making an informed decision about investing in a Chesters franchise.
