What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Buona's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Buona has the right to require a franchisee to replace components of their point-of-sale and/or computer systems under specific conditions. These conditions are met if Buona deems the component to be either undersized or insufficient for the efficient operation and management of the franchised business, or incompatible with Buona's computer system or the computer system that Buona designates for the franchise network's use.
This requirement ensures that all Buona locations maintain a consistent and efficient technological infrastructure. It allows Buona to mandate upgrades or replacements to point-of-sale systems and computer systems to keep pace with technological advancements or to ensure compatibility across the franchise network. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as franchisors often need to maintain uniformity and efficiency across all locations.
For a prospective franchisee, this means they should be prepared to invest in and maintain up-to-date point-of-sale and computer systems as directed by Buona. Failure to comply with these requirements could lead to operational inefficiencies or non-compliance with franchise standards. It is important for franchisees to factor in potential future costs associated with system upgrades and replacements when evaluating the financial feasibility of the franchise.
