What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Buona's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Buona retains the right to be the sole spokesperson in the event of a foodborne illness outbreak or any other public health or safety issue that could negatively impact its brand. This is to ensure consistent messaging and protect the brand's reputation.
This means that as a Buona franchisee, you are strictly prohibited from communicating with the media about such incidents, whether they occur at your location or any other Buona location. You must immediately notify Buona of any such event, but no later than the day following the occurrence.
This restriction is in place to allow Buona to manage the situation and protect its brand image. Failure to comply with this requirement could result in penalties or other consequences as outlined in the franchise agreement. This is a fairly standard clause in franchise agreements, as franchisors want to control the narrative and ensure consistent messaging to protect the overall brand.
