How often is a Buona franchisee required to conduct a Franchised Business Renovation during the term?

According to Buona's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee is required to conduct a full Franchised Business Renovation only once during the term of their agreement. This renovation includes a complete reimaging, renovation, refurbishment, and modernization of the franchised business.

The renovation encompasses various aspects of the business, such as the building design, parking lot, landscaping, equipment, point of sale system, signs, interior and exterior decor items, fixtures, furnishings, trade dress, color scheme, presentation of trademarks and service marks, supplies, and other products and materials. The renovation must meet the then-current design criteria for Buona Businesses, potentially involving structural changes, remodeling, redecoration, and modifications to existing improvements.

However, a franchisee will not be required to perform a Franchised Business Renovation if there is less than one year remaining in the term of their franchise agreement. This condition provides some relief to franchisees nearing the end of their term, as they are not obligated to invest in a significant renovation with limited time left to benefit from it. This renovation policy ensures that Buona locations maintain a consistent brand image and meet current standards, while also considering the franchisee's investment timeline.
