What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Buona's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must adhere to several obligations regarding the operation of their franchised business. Buona requires franchisees to operate in strict compliance with the uniform methods, standards, and specifications that Buona prescribes in its manuals or in writing. This ensures the highest degree of quality, service, and cleanliness is maintained uniformly across all locations. Franchisees must avoid any deviation from these standards and must not operate in any manner that reflects negatively on Buona's name, goodwill, the Marks, or the System.
Specifically, franchisees must maintain a sufficient supply of ingredients, products, materials, supplies, and paper goods that conform to Buona's standards. They are prohibited from using nonconforming items without prior written consent from Buona, which Buona may withhold at its discretion. Franchisees are also required to sell or offer for sale only products and menu items that have been expressly approved in writing by Buona. These items must meet Buona's uniform standards of quality and quantity and must be prepared according to Buona's methods and techniques, including recipes, cooking techniques, and processes as designated in the manuals. Franchisees cannot alter, dilute, substitute, or change the quality or composition of any ingredients and materials.
Furthermore, franchisees must sell or offer for sale the minimum menu items specified in the manuals or in writing and must not deviate from Buona's standards for preparing, serving, or selling menu items without prior written consent from Buona, which Buona may withhold at its discretion. These recipes, cooking techniques, and processes are integral to the Buona system, and failure to adhere to them, including the proper handling and storage of ingredients and prepared menu items, can be detrimental to the system and the Marks. These obligations ensure consistency and quality across all Buona franchises, protecting the brand's reputation and customer experience.
