What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Buona's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, after Buona approves a franchisee's location, both the franchisor and franchisee must complete and execute Exhibit A. This exhibit will contain a description of the Protected Area granted to the franchisee.

The Protected Area is a geographic region around the Approved Location where Buona will not establish, nor grant another the right to establish a Buona Restaurant. The size of the protected area depends on the location of the franchise. For non-urban locations, the Protected Area will have a minimum population of 60,000 people. If the franchise is in an urban area, the Protected Area will be a one-half mile radius around the Approved Location.

However, the Protected Area has limitations. Buona retains the right to franchise or operate Buona Businesses in specific Captive Locations, even within the Protected Area. These Captive Locations include transportation facilities like airports and train stations, educational facilities such as schools and universities, institutional feeding facilities like hospitals and corporate cafeterias, and government institutions such as military bases.
