What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Buona's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must adhere strictly to the standards and specifications set by Buona regarding all ingredients, products, materials, supplies, and paper goods used in the business. This means a franchisee is obligated to maintain a sufficient supply of only those items that conform to Buona's standards.
The franchisee is explicitly prohibited from deviating from these standards by using nonconforming items unless they obtain prior written consent from Buona. Buona retains the sole discretion to withhold such consent. This requirement ensures that all Buona locations maintain a consistent level of quality and uniformity in their offerings.
Furthermore, Buona franchisees are required to sell or offer for sale only those products and menu items that have been expressly approved in writing by Buona. These items must meet Buona's uniform standards of quality and quantity and must be prepared according to Buona's methods and techniques, including specific recipes, cooking techniques, and processes as outlined in the manuals. Franchisees are not allowed to alter, dilute, substitute, or otherwise change the quality or composition of any ingredients and materials. These recipes, cooking techniques, and processes are considered integral to the Buona system, and failure to adhere to them is deemed detrimental to the system and the associated marks.
