What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Buona's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee is strictly prohibited from communicating with the media regarding a food borne illness outbreak or any other public health or safety issue. The franchisee must immediately notify Buona of such an event, no later than the day following its occurrence. Buona retains the right to be the sole spokesperson on these matters.
This policy is in place to protect Buona's brand and image. By designating itself as the sole spokesperson, Buona aims to control the narrative and ensure consistent messaging to the public. This approach allows Buona to manage potential damage to its reputation and maintain public trust.
For a prospective franchisee, this means they must immediately defer all media inquiries to Buona in the event of a public health or safety issue. Failure to comply with this policy could result in penalties or other repercussions as outlined in the franchise agreement. It is important for franchisees to understand and adhere to these communication guidelines to maintain a positive relationship with Buona and protect the overall brand.
