What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Buona's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must clearly identify their business as independently owned. In all advertising and promotional materials, a Buona franchisee must display its business name in conjunction with the phrase "an independent Buona/The Original Rainbow Franchisee." Alternatively, the franchisee can use other words and phrases to identify itself as an independent owner, as specified in the manuals.

This requirement ensures that customers understand that the franchise is independently owned and operated, maintaining transparency and avoiding confusion. It also protects Buona from potential liabilities arising from the franchisee's operations.

This type of stipulation is common in franchising, as franchisors want to maintain brand consistency while ensuring that franchisees are recognized as independent business owners. Franchisees should carefully review the advertising guidelines in the Buona manuals to ensure compliance and avoid any potential penalties or disputes with the franchisor.
