What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bumper Man's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, upon termination or expiration of the franchise agreement, the franchisee is required to transfer any telephone numbers and directory listings associated with the Bumper Man brand to the franchisor. The FDD does not state whether Bumper Man provides any compensation to the franchisee for the assignment of these telephone numbers.
As a prospective franchisee, it is important to understand the financial implications of this transfer. Typically, phone numbers, especially those that have been used for a long time, can hold value due to established customer recognition. The absence of compensation for these numbers could represent a financial loss for the franchisee upon exiting the Bumper Man system.
Therefore, a prospective Bumper Man franchisee should seek clarification from the franchisor regarding their policy on compensating franchisees for the assignment of telephone numbers. Understanding this policy is crucial for assessing the overall financial implications of the franchise agreement and planning for the eventual exit from the franchise system.
