What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Bumper Man Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is required to notify the telephone company and directory publishers about the termination of their right to use any phone numbers or directory listings associated with the Bumper Man brand. The franchisee must then authorize the transfer of these numbers and listings to Bumper Man or an entity they designate. Alternatively, Bumper Man may direct the franchisee to instruct the phone company to forward all calls to numbers Bumper Man specifies. This process is part of the disassociation of communication methods upon termination or expiration of the franchise agreement.
This requirement ensures that upon the end of a franchise agreement, all communication channels associated with the Bumper Man brand are transferred back to the franchisor's control. This prevents confusion among customers and maintains brand consistency. By having the phone numbers and listings transferred, Bumper Man can continue to serve customers in the area or redirect them as needed.
For a prospective franchisee, this means understanding that any phone numbers or listings used for the Bumper Man business will need to be reassigned or forwarded to Bumper Man at the end of the franchise term. This is a standard practice in franchising to protect the brand and ensure a smooth transition when a franchise agreement ends.
