What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Bombs Away's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Bombs Away Franchising has the right to establish a purchasing cooperative and require franchisees to join. The terms and conditions of this cooperative will be determined by Bombs Away Franchising. This means that as a Bombs Away franchisee, you could be mandated to participate in a purchasing cooperative set up by the franchisor.
This requirement could impact a franchisee's operational costs and vendor relationships. While the aim of a purchasing cooperative is typically to leverage the collective buying power of the franchise system to secure better pricing and terms from vendors, franchisees may have limited control over the selection of vendors or the negotiation of terms. This could potentially restrict a franchisee's ability to source products or services from preferred local suppliers or negotiate better deals independently.
It is important to note that Bombs Away Franchising also retains the right to collect payments from franchisees on behalf of a vendor and remit the payments to the vendor, and to impose a reasonable markup or charge for administering the payment program. Additionally, Bombs Away Franchising may receive rebates, payments, or other consideration from vendors in connection with purchases by franchisees. Franchisees should seek clarification on how these potential benefits are distributed or used within the franchise system.
Prospective franchisees should carefully evaluate the potential benefits and drawbacks of mandatory participation in a purchasing cooperative, considering its impact on their operational flexibility and profitability. It would be prudent to discuss the specifics of the purchasing cooperative, including vendor selection, pricing policies, and the distribution of any rebates or benefits, with Bombs Away Franchising before entering into a franchise agreement.
