What criteria does Bombs Away use to approve or revoke suppliers?

Bombs_Away Franchise · 2024 FDD

Answer from 2024 FDD Document

If you want to use a supplier that is not on our list of approved suppliers, you must request our approval in writing. We will grant or revoke approvals of suppliers based on criteria appropriate to the situation, which may include evaluations of the supplier's capacity, quality, financial stability, reputation, and reliability; inspections; product testing, and performance reviews. Our criteria for approving suppliers are not available to you. We permit you to contract with alternative suppliers who meet our criteria only if you request our approval in writing, and we grant approval. There is no fee for us to review or approve an alternate supplier. We will provide you with written notification of the approval or disapproval of any supplier you propose within 30 days after receipt of your request. We may grant approvals of new suppliers or revoke past approvals of suppliers on written notice to you.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Bombs Away's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee wants to use a supplier not already approved, they must request written approval from Bombs Away. Bombs Away will then decide whether to approve or revoke suppliers based on criteria relevant to the specific situation. These criteria may include assessing the supplier's capacity, quality, financial stability, reputation, and reliability. Bombs Away may also conduct inspections, product testing, and performance reviews. However, the specific criteria Bombs Away uses for approving suppliers are not disclosed to franchisees. Bombs Away will provide written notification of approval or disapproval within 30 days of the request.

Bombs Away can also grant approvals of new suppliers or revoke previous approvals by providing written notice to the franchisee. This means that even if a supplier is initially approved, Bombs Away retains the right to revoke that approval later.

This policy is fairly standard in franchising, as franchisors typically want to maintain quality control and consistency across their brand. However, the lack of transparency regarding the specific criteria Bombs Away uses could be a concern for franchisees who may want more flexibility in sourcing their supplies. Prospective franchisees should inquire about the specific factors Bombs Away considers when evaluating suppliers to better understand the approval process.
