What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Bombs Away's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Bombs Away does not assist franchisees in conforming the premises to local ordinances and building codes or in obtaining any required permits. The FDD specifies that Bombs Away does not assist in locating a site, negotiating the purchase or lease of a site, or in constructing, remodeling, or decorating the premises. Bombs Away also does not approve a franchisee's site.
This means that the franchisee is solely responsible for ensuring the location meets all local regulations and for securing all necessary permits before opening the Bombs Away business. This can involve significant time and effort, as the franchisee will need to research local requirements, submit applications, and potentially work with contractors to ensure compliance.
Prospective franchisees should carefully consider this responsibility and factor in the potential costs and time delays associated with obtaining permits and conforming to local ordinances. It would be prudent to consult with local authorities and experienced contractors to understand the specific requirements in their area before signing the franchise agreement. This lack of assistance is not uncommon in the franchise industry, as many franchisors leave site selection and preparation to the franchisee's discretion.
