What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Big Apple Bagels' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees can purchase or lease original and replacement equipment, fixtures, furniture, POS systems, fax machines, credit card processors, signs, decor items, or tableware from any source approved by Big Apple Bagels. These items must meet the franchisor's specifications for performance, warranties, design, and appearance.
Big Apple Bagels may modify the minimum standards and specifications or the list of approved brands and suppliers from time to time. This includes the possibility of Big Apple Bagels or its affiliates being an approved source. If a franchisee wants to use items or suppliers not already approved, they must notify Big Apple Bagels in writing and provide sufficient information for the franchisor to determine if the item or supplier meets their standards.
Big Apple Bagels has the right to charge a reasonable fee to cover the costs of determining whether a proposed item or supplier meets their specifications. The franchisor will then advise the franchisee within 60 days whether the item meets their standards. This ensures that all Big Apple Bagels stores maintain a consistent image and quality, but it also means franchisees must seek approval before sourcing equipment from unapproved vendors.
