8. FRANCHISE AND OTHER FEES.
a. Initial Franchise Fee. Franchisee agrees to pay to Franchisor, upon execution of this Agreement, an initial franchise fee as follows:

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Big Apple Bagels' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise fee for a BAGELS Satellite Store is $15,000. This fee is payable upon the execution of the Franchise Agreement.
This initial franchise fee grants the franchisee the right to operate a Big Apple Bagels Satellite Store, which, as defined in the FDD, has the capacity for baking, retail, and wholesale distribution of bagels and muffins, as well as the production and retail distribution of cream cheese spreads, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, coffee beverages, and soft drinks. Unlike a BAGELS Production Store, a Satellite Store may have limited or no on-site consumption options.
It's important to note that this initial franchise fee is fully earned by Big Apple Bagels upon payment and is non-refundable. If a franchisee later decides to upgrade their BAGELS Satellite Store to a BAGELS Production Store, they must pay the difference between the franchise fee for the upgraded store and the amount they originally paid for the BAGELS Satellite Store franchise.
