- 4.5. Opening Deadline.
You are required to open the Franchised Business to the public by the Opening Deadline.
If you request an extension of the Opening Deadline, we have complete discretion whether to give an extension.
If we agree to an extension, we have the right to charge you an extension fee of up to $1,000 per month of extension.
However, you will not be charged an extension fee if your request is accompanied by supporting documentation demonstrating to our satisfaction that, despite your best efforts, you are unable to obtain the necessary equipment to open and operate the Franchised Business by the Opening Deadline.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Benjamin Franklin Plumbing Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to open their franchised business to the public by the Opening Deadline.
If a franchisee needs more time, they can request an extension of the Opening Deadline. The franchisor has complete discretion on whether to grant an extension. If the extension is approved, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing has the right to charge the franchisee an extension fee of up to $1,000 per month of extension.
However, the extension fee will not be charged if the franchisee provides supporting documentation demonstrating that, despite their best efforts, they are unable to obtain the necessary equipment to open and operate the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchised business by the Opening Deadline.
Failure to open the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchised business by the Opening Deadline can result in Benjamin Franklin Plumbing electing to terminate the Franchise Agreement.
