Is a Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchisee required to pay a renewal fee?

According to the 2025 Benjamin Franklin Plumbing Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to pay a renewal fee if they choose to renew their franchise agreement. To renew the franchise for an additional 10-year term, the franchisee must meet several conditions.

These conditions include providing written notice of their intent to renew between six and twelve months before the expiration date, not being in default of any agreements with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing or its affiliates, maintaining a good record of customer service and compliance with brand standards, and being on good terms with the company, avoiding litigation or adversarial legal proceedings.

Additionally, franchisees must sign the then-current franchise agreement, which may have substantially different terms, including increased or new fees and potentially a reconfiguration of the territory. They must also sign a general release of claims against Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Most importantly, the franchisee is required to pay the renewal fee specified in the Brand Appendix.
