What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Benjamin Franklin Plumbing's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the estimated time to open a franchise is approximately three months after signing the Franchise Agreement, whether it is a Start-Up or Conversion Franchise. However, several factors can influence this timeline. These factors include licensing and zoning laws, advertising timelines for various directories (Yellow Pages, internet-based directories), and the distribution dates for these advertisements.

Additional factors impacting the opening timeline include the time it takes to procure and customize trucks and vans (including painting), any necessary remodeling, and the speed at which the franchisee operates. Hiring issues, completion of the mandatory Training Program, and the implementation of the franchisee's marketing plan also play a role in determining when the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchise can open its doors.

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing emphasizes the importance of meeting the opening deadline specified in the Franchise Agreement, as failure to do so can result in termination of the agreement. While extensions are possible, they are at the discretion of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and may incur a fee of up to $1,000 per month, unless the franchisee can demonstrate that delays are due to equipment procurement issues despite their best efforts. Franchisees should, therefore, proactively manage these factors to ensure a timely opening and avoid potential penalties or termination.
