What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 FDD, a Benjamin Franklin Plumbing contractor must reimburse UWIN (a customer service resource) for any Remedial Payment within 15 days after UWIN notifies the contractor of such payment. A Remedial Payment is a payment made by UWIN to a customer to resolve a complaint, which can include paying the customer the disputed amount, paying to complete unfinished work, or hiring a third party to complete unfinished work.
If the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing contractor fails to reimburse UWIN within this 15-day period, UWIN has the right to assess and collect a past due service charge. This charge will be the lesser of 1.5% per month or the maximum interest rate permitted by law. The interest is calculated starting from the date UWIN made the Remedial Payment.
This policy ensures that Benjamin Franklin Plumbing contractors are responsible for resolving customer complaints and reimbursing UWIN for any costs incurred in resolving those complaints. The late fee provision incentivizes prompt reimbursement. This arrangement is typical in franchise systems where a third party like UWIN provides customer service support, ensuring brand consistency and customer satisfaction.
