What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Benjamin Franklin Plumbing's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for bearing the expenses associated with modifications to the System. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing retains the right to modify the System, which includes the products and services offered, approved products or services, equipment, operating procedures, and Brand Standards.

This means that as a Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchisee, you must comply with any changes the franchisor makes to the System. This compliance is at your own expense, and includes any associated replacement or renovation of equipment, remodeling, redecoration, modifications to existing improvements, and structural changes.

This requirement is fairly standard in franchising, as franchisors need the flexibility to update their systems to remain competitive and maintain brand standards. However, it's important for a prospective Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchisee to consider the potential costs of these modifications, as they can be significant and may require unexpected capital expenditures. It would be prudent to inquire about the typical frequency and estimated costs of such modifications during the due diligence process.
