Is attendance at additional training programs required for Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchisees?
Benjamin_Franklin_Plumbing Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
After the Franchised Business opens for business, we will make available, at the time(s) and location(s) we designate, such other required and optional training programs as we deem necessary and appropriate.
For training that we designate as required, the individuals that we designate are required to successfully complete the training.
The Key Person, Owners of Franchisee, and/or employees of Franchisee, as designated by us (collectively, "Designated Franchisee Representatives"), are required to attend an annual convention and regional conferences of franchise owners, if called by us.
If none of the Designated Franchisee Representatives attend the annual convention, we may charge Franchisee a non-attendance fee of $500 for the first convention the Designated Franchisee Representatives fail to attend and then a $2,000 non-attendance fee for any convention that the Designated Franchisee Representatives fail to attend consecutively thereafter.
If you do not achieve the minimum score or standard that we prescribe for a specific Brand Standards category, we may require you and/or your employees to complete additional training at a location we designate, at your expense.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Benjamin Franklin Plumbing Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees and their designated individuals may be required to attend additional training programs after the Franchised Business opens. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing will make available required and optional training programs that they deem necessary and appropriate, at designated times and locations. Franchisees are responsible for ensuring that designated individuals successfully complete any training that Benjamin Franklin Plumbing designates as required.
Benjamin Franklin Plumbing also requires that the Key Person, Owners of Franchisee, and/or employees of Franchisee, as designated by them, attend an annual convention and regional conferences. If none of the Designated Franchisee Representatives attend the annual convention, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing may charge a non-attendance fee of $500 for the first missed convention, and then $2,000 for each consecutive convention missed thereafter. Missing the annual convention for three consecutive years, without an approved reason or a Qualified Substitute, can result in a default of the Franchise Agreement and potential termination.
Furthermore, if a Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchisee does not achieve the minimum score or standard for a specific Brand Standards category, they may be required to complete additional training at a designated location, at their own expense. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing assesses franchisees' compliance with Brand Standards through customer satisfaction surveys, mystery shopper reports, employee satisfaction surveys, health and safety reviews, and third-party observation of operations. Franchisees are required to cooperate with these assessments.
