What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Benihana's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are restricted from conducting any other business activities at the Benihana restaurant location during the entire franchise term. This restriction is in place to ensure that the franchisee focuses solely on operating the Benihana restaurant as permitted under the franchise agreement.

Furthermore, Benihana franchisees are not allowed to operate, permit, or grant concessions or licenses for vending machines, video or entertainment machines, games of skill or chance, or similar devices at the restaurant location without prior written consent from Benihana. This provision aims to maintain the integrity and brand image of the Benihana restaurant by preventing the introduction of unrelated or potentially conflicting business activities or entertainment options.

These restrictions are typical in franchising to maintain brand consistency and customer experience. A prospective Benihana franchisee should understand that their business focus must be exclusively on the Benihana restaurant and that any deviation requires explicit approval from Benihana.
