What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Benihana's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Benihana determines the times and places for both the initial and in-restaurant training programs. The document specifies that all training programs will occur at times and locations designated by Benihana. Currently, initial training is conducted at Benihana's principal place of business, while in-restaurant training takes place at another Benihana restaurant.

This means that as a franchisee, you will not have control over when and where you or your employees receive training. You must be prepared to send your personnel to the locations Benihana specifies, which may involve travel and associated expenses.

If Benihana decides to conduct training programs at locations other than its principal place of business or another Benihana restaurant, the franchisee is responsible for reimbursing Benihana for the out-of-pocket expenses incurred by Benihana's training instructors. These expenses include wages, travel, food, lodging, and auto rental. Franchisees should factor in these potential costs when budgeting for training.
