What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Annex Brands's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must comply with laws requiring them to accept service of process for customers in some states. This means that as an Annex Brands franchisee, you may be legally obligated to act as a point of contact for legal documents on behalf of your customers, depending on the state in which you operate. This requirement is part of a broader obligation to comply with various federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

This obligation could add an administrative burden to your business operations, as it requires you to properly handle and forward legal documents to the intended recipients. Failing to comply with these laws could result in legal consequences for the franchisee. The FDD also mentions other compliance requirements, such as USPS regulations, inspection of scales, regulations governing notary services, and laws related to shipping hazardous substances.

Prospective franchisees should investigate the specific laws in their state regarding the acceptance of service of process to understand the full scope of this requirement. It would be prudent to consult with a legal professional to ensure full compliance and to establish procedures for handling such documents efficiently. Understanding these obligations is crucial for the smooth and lawful operation of an Annex Brands franchise.
