What are the minimum computer systems requirements for a standard Annex Brands retail center?
Annex_Brands Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
You must obtain and use computer hardware, software programs and software licenses ("computer systems") according to our specifications. If you use more than 1 computer system, each computer system must be electronically linked or networked together as we specify. Currently, we require standard retail centers and flex retail centers to obtain and use at least 2 computer systems that operate our PostalMate POS network software and other 3rd party software programs and licenses (described below). Flex retail centers are also currently required to obtain and use a back office laptop computer system. Currently, we require express retail centers to obtain and use at least 1 computer system. Express retail centers must obtain and use a computer system that operates our PostalMate POS network software and other 3rd party software programs and licenses.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 FDD, Annex Brands requires standard retail centers to have a minimum of two computer systems. These systems must operate the PostalMate POS network software, along with other third-party software programs and licenses as specified by Annex Brands. The computer systems must be electronically linked or networked together.
Annex Brands franchisees are responsible for obtaining and installing all necessary computer hardware and software before initial training. This includes ensuring Internet access for electronic communication. While franchisees can choose their internet provider and type of connection, Annex Brands recommends a broadband connection with dial-up as a backup. The FDD specifies that Annex Brands may modify and update these computer system specifications and designate suppliers with reasonable written notice.
Annex Brands offers the option to purchase the required computer hardware through TechShed, an approved supplier, who will also install the PostalMate POS network software. If a franchisee chooses to obtain hardware from another supplier, they may need to hire a professional computer technician to assist with software installation. The estimated cost for these computer systems ranges from $580 to $13,000, depending on the type of retail center. Franchisees should also be aware that Annex Brands charges a technology services fee of $16 per week to support the system's internet, intranet communications, website, sales tracking, reporting system, and retail center email addresses.
