What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Annex Brands's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee is required to sign a general release as part of the renewal process. To renew the franchise for an additional 20-year term, the franchisee must substantially comply with the existing franchise agreement and all other agreements with Annex Brands or its affiliates.
In addition to signing a general release, the franchisee must notify Annex Brands of their intent to renew 6 to 12 months before the 20-year anniversary of the franchise agreement's execution. They must also show evidence of their right to possess the site or secure an approved substitute site. Full compliance with Annex Brands' specifications and standards for franchised businesses is also required.
Furthermore, the franchisee must sign the then-current franchise agreement and any related agreements, and pay a renewal fee. Annex Brands may present a new franchise agreement with terms and conditions that are materially different from the previous agreement, potentially including different fee requirements and territorial rights.
