What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Zoomin Groomin Franchise Disclosure Document, Zoomin Groomin intends to protect its copyrights and will remain in control of any copyright litigation. However, Zoomin Groomin is not required to participate in the defense of a franchisee or indemnify them for expenses or damages in a proceeding involving a copyright licensed to the franchisee. Zoomin Groomin may also modify or change the copyrighted materials and compel the franchisee to accept and adopt such modifications or changes at the franchisee's expense.

This means that while Zoomin Groomin will take the lead in any copyright litigation related to its materials, franchisees may still incur expenses if they are involved in such proceedings. Franchisees do not have control over the litigation. They are also responsible for updating their materials to reflect any changes Zoomin Groomin makes to its copyrighted materials.

This is a fairly typical arrangement in franchising, where the franchisor protects its brand and intellectual property, but the franchisee bears some responsibility for costs associated with using those materials. Prospective franchisees should be aware of this potential expense and factor it into their financial planning.
