If a Zoomin Groomin franchisee does not renew their Franchise Agreement, can they terminate the agreement?

Based on the 2025 Zoomin Groomin Franchise Disclosure Document, the Telephone & Internet Assignment agreement states that upon the expiration or termination of the Franchise Agreement for any reason, the franchisee's right of use of the Listings shall terminate. In the event of termination or expiration of the Agreement, the franchisee will pay all amounts owed in connection with the Listings, and to immediately at Franchisor's request take actions to transfer the Listings to Zoomin Groomin or Zoomin Groomin's designated agent.

These actions include taking any other action as may be necessary to transfer the Listings to Franchisor or Franchisor's designated agent, installing and maintaining, at Franchisee's sole expense, an intercept message, in a form and manner acceptable to Franchisor on any or all of the Listings, disconnecting the Listings, and/or cooperating with Franchisor or its designated agent in the removal or relisting of the Listings. Zoomin Groomin may require Franchisee to "port" or transfer to Franchisor or an approved call routing and tracking vendor all Listings.

While the document does not explicitly state that a franchisee can terminate the agreement if they do not renew, the language implies that the agreement ends upon expiration or termination, regardless of the reason. The franchisee is obligated to fulfill certain requirements related to the transfer of listings and payment of outstanding amounts upon either the agreement's expiration or termination.
