What is the exception regarding the purchase of a used vehicle for a Zoomin Groomin franchise?

Zoomin_Groomin Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

The low-end is based on leasing a Vehicle at MSRP with the features we require and choosing the most economical upfitting package that is approved by us. The high-end is based on purchasing a new Vehicle for full MSRP with the features we require and the highest priced upfitting package we have approved. We may also permit you to purchase a used low-mileage vehicle in good condition, which approval will not be unreasonably withheld. The price you pay may depend on market conditions. Further, taxes and delivery fees are not included with this total and will vary depending on your location. We make no guarantee regarding the availability of a suitable vehicle, financing, nor do we finance any portion of the vehicle expense.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Zoomin Groomin's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, while franchisees typically purchase or lease a new vehicle, there is an exception. Zoomin Groomin may permit a franchisee to purchase a used, low-mileage vehicle in good condition. This approval from Zoomin Groomin will not be unreasonably withheld. The price of the vehicle will depend on market conditions.

This exception provides some flexibility for prospective franchisees who may want to reduce their initial investment. The FDD states that the low-end estimate for a vehicle is $9,274, while the high-end estimate is $130,000. Purchasing a used vehicle, if approved, could potentially lower the initial costs. However, the availability of suitable used vehicles is not guaranteed, and financing is the franchisee's responsibility.

It's important to note that even if a used vehicle is approved, it must still meet Zoomin Groomin's specifications and be upfitted by an approved vendor. This ensures that all vehicles used in the Zoomin Groomin system meet the brand's standards for safety and functionality. A prospective franchisee should inquire with Zoomin Groomin about the specific criteria for used vehicles and the process for obtaining approval.
