What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Spray Net's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Spray Net can request a refurbishment and upgrade of the Approved Vehicles, any equipment on them, and other components of the Franchised Business no more than once every five years. The franchisee is responsible for covering the expenses associated with these upgrades. These upgrades are to ensure that the business conforms to Spray Net's current standards for building design, trade dress, color schemes, and presentation of Proprietary Marks. This includes redecoration, remodeling, and modifications to existing improvements. However, vehicle wraps, lettering, and/or trade dress for vehicles used in the operation of the franchised business may be updated more frequently. These more frequent updates are referred to as "Vehicle Updates".
The franchisee has twelve months from the receipt of Spray Net's request to complete the changes, with the exception of Vehicle Updates, which must be completed within four months of the request. This allows franchisees a reasonable timeframe to budget and execute the required updates while ensuring the brand image remains consistent.
This requirement ensures that all Spray Net franchises maintain a consistent and up-to-date appearance, which is crucial for brand recognition and customer trust. While the franchisee bears the cost, the periodic nature of these upgrades (no more than once every five years) allows for financial planning. Franchisees should factor these potential expenses into their long-term financial projections. The distinction between general refurbishments and Vehicle Updates provides some flexibility, allowing for quicker adaptation to changes in vehicle branding while giving more time for larger-scale renovations.
