What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Southern Steer Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must comply with all applicable federal, state, city, local, and municipal laws, statutes, ordinances, rules, and regulations pertaining to the operation of their Southern Steer business. This includes compliance with credit card and debit card laws applicable to consumers, including all privacy laws.
In practical terms, this means a Southern Steer franchisee must ensure their business operations adhere to laws governing credit and debit card transactions. These laws are designed to protect consumers' financial information and prevent fraud. Compliance extends to all privacy laws related to handling consumer data during these transactions.
It is the franchisee's responsibility to stay informed about these laws and implement practices that ensure compliance. This may involve implementing secure payment processing systems, training employees on proper handling of cardholder data, and regularly updating security protocols to address emerging threats. Failure to comply with these laws can result in legal penalties, financial losses, and damage to the Southern Steer brand's reputation.
While the FDD specifies the need to comply with credit and debit card laws, it does not provide an exhaustive list of these laws. Therefore, it is crucial for prospective franchisees to consult with legal and financial professionals to fully understand their obligations and ensure their business operations are fully compliant with all applicable regulations.
