What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Southern Steer Franchise Disclosure Document, Southern Steer provides franchisees with site criteria for their potential business location. These criteria include various demographic and physical characteristics. Specifically, the site criteria may include demographic characteristics, traffic patterns, parking availability, neighborhood characteristics, and the nature of nearby businesses.

In addition to the surrounding environment, Southern Steer also considers the physical attributes of the site itself. This includes the size and appearance of the location, along with other physical and commercial characteristics that could impact the business. Southern Steer emphasizes that franchisees are responsible for conducting their own market research and finding a qualified agent to select a location, although the final site selection is subject to Southern Steer's approval.

Southern Steer also requires franchisees to provide them with site information that includes demographics of the market area, traffic patterns, a description of the character of the neighborhood, the competition in the area of the proposed site, and the size, appearance and other characteristics of the premises of the proposed site. While Southern Steer does not specify a time limit for reviewing this information, they generally complete their review within 30 to 45 days after receipt. However, the document states that Southern Steer has no obligation, duty, or liability resulting from the site selected by the franchisee or the lease of the location.
