What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Southern Steer Franchise Disclosure Document, Southern Steer provides franchisees with site criteria for their potential business location. These criteria encompass a range of factors that Southern Steer considers important for the success of a franchise. These factors include demographic characteristics of the area, traffic patterns, parking availability, and the overall character of the neighborhood. Southern Steer also considers the level of competition from other businesses, the proximity to and nature of those businesses, foot traffic, and the daytime business population. The physical attributes of the site, such as its size and appearance, along with other commercial characteristics, are also part of the site criteria.

Prospective Southern Steer franchisees are responsible for conducting their own market research and finding a qualified agent to assist in selecting a location. However, the final site selection is subject to Southern Steer's approval. This means that while franchisees have the autonomy to identify potential locations, Southern Steer retains the right to ensure that the chosen site aligns with its established criteria and standards. Southern Steer will also review the site information provided by the franchisee for a proposed site for their Southern Steer Business and approve or disapprove the site selected.

It is important to note that Southern Steer's consent to a particular site does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee of future success. The franchisor's approval simply indicates that the site meets the company's minimum requirements at the time of selection. The ultimate success of the Southern Steer Business will depend on various factors, including the franchisee's management skills, local market conditions, and overall economic trends. Southern Steer also reviews the franchisee's proposed lease or purchase agreement for the site.
